Custom wedge wire screens, engineered to order
Can you make a single custom wedge wire screen?
Yes. A single replacement element follows the same engineering review and drawing approval as a larger order. Send the application, operating conditions and quantity with your enquiry.
Can you replace an imported or OEM screen?
Yes. Imported and OEM screens are replaced from a sample, a drawing, the general arrangement drawing or a site visit. Interfaces, slot, wire, rods, flow direction and material are measured and drawn for your approval.
Can you work from a photograph of the present screen?
A photograph is a useful start. Key dimensions, the slot, the end connections and the operating conditions are then needed, and a sample or drawing allows the screen to be matched closely.
What if we have no drawing at all?
Send the application, the operating conditions and the space the screen must fit. SIMO engineering proposes a design and issues a drawing for your approval before manufacture.
Can a large screen be made to pass through a manway?
Yes. Large panels, grids and baskets are segmented so that each piece passes the manway, then bolted or clamped together in the vessel.
Request a wedge wire screen quote
What if I do not know the slot size or material?
Describe the process and what the screen must retain. SIMO engineering recommends the slot, profile wire, support rod and material from that information.
Can I send a photograph instead of a drawing?
Yes. A photograph with a few key dimensions is a sufficient start, and the engineer will ask for any further details needed.
How soon will I receive a wedge wire screen quote?
Our engineers will connect with you within a working day with a quotation or a short list of questions, by email, or on WhatsApp if you prefer.
How is the wedge wire screen price worked out?
Price depends on slot, profile wire, support rod, material, size, fabrication, quantity and the documents required. Each enquiry is quoted against its own specification once these are confirmed.
Will my drawings be kept confidential?
Yes. Drawings and process data are treated as confidential and are not shared outside SIMO, and a non-disclosure agreement can be signed before drawings are shared.
Wedge wire fabrication
Do you supply screens with flanges fitted?
Yes. Flanges, end rings and couplings are fabricated onto cylinders and baskets, drilled to the standard or drawing you specify.
Can you make a frame to fit an existing opening?
Yes. Send the opening size, the depth available, the seating or fixing arrangement and the load the frame must carry. A drawing is issued for your approval before manufacture.
Are screen housings and frames made in the same material as the screen?
Normally yes, so that the assembly is in one alloy with no galvanic couples. Other frame materials can be discussed where the operating conditions allow.
Can a large stainless steel wedge wire screen be split into sections?
Yes. Large decks, grids and baskets are segmented so that each piece passes a manway or suits handling, and are then bolted or clamped together on site.
Do you supply complete housings and machines?
On request. Basket strainer housings, resin trap housings in carbon steel or lined construction, sieve bend feed boxes and complete rotary drum screens can be supplied, with bought-out parts under SIMO quality control.
Wedge wire screen design engineering
What information is needed for wedge wire screen design?
The particle or media size to retain, flow rate, allowable pressure drop, operating and upset pressure, temperature, fluid chemistry, cleaning method and the space the screen must fit. A drawing or photograph of the present screen is also useful.
When do you use CFD and FEA?
CFD is used where pressure drop or flow distribution governs the design, as in laterals and intake screens. FEA is used where load governs it, as in support grids, centrifuge baskets and screens subject to collapse pressure.
Can you replace an imported or OEM screen?
Yes, from a sample, an existing drawing or site measurements. The interfaces are matched, and SIMO engineering checks whether a change of slot, wire or material would suit the operating conditions better.
Will we receive a drawing before manufacture?
Yes. A general arrangement drawing with slot, wire, rod, material and key dimensions is supplied for approval on every custom order, and manufacture starts only after approval.
How do you choose the slot size if we do not know it?
Send a sieve analysis or a sample of the media or solids. The slot is set from the size to be retained, and the resulting open area and velocity are then checked.

Wedge wire screen inspection and testing
Can you work to our inspection and test plan?
Yes. Send your inspection and test plan with the enquiry. We mark up our standard plan against it and confirm the hold and witness points before quoting.
How is slot measurement done on a wedge wire screen?
With feeler gauges at welding set-up, at intervals during the run and at the end of each screen, at several points along and around it. Optical measurement is used where a physical gauge cannot be used.
What is your standard slot tolerance?
Plus or minus 5 percent of the nominal slot, stated on the drawing. The final inspection report records the minimum, maximum and mean slot, and every reading must fall within that tolerance.
Can a third-party inspector carry out witness inspection?
Yes. Customer hold and witness points and third-party inspection agencies are accommodated. Name the agency and the points at enquiry stage, and notice is given before each point is reached.
What material traceability do you provide?
Every order carries a Mill Test Certificate, and heat numbers are traceable from the MTC to the finished screen through the job number, item and slot recorded on each screen's QR-coded tag, or laser marked on the screen where the client requires it.
Do you carry out PMI or dye penetrant testing?
Dye penetrant testing of fabrication welds is carried out wherever specified. PMI of incoming material or finished screens is arranged on request through an approved agency.

Wedge wire screen manufacturing capabilities
What slot sizes can a welded wedge wire screen have?
SIMO Screens makes slot openings from 25 microns (0.025 mm) to 25 mm, with a standard tolerance of plus or minus 5 percent of nominal. Fine slots suit media retention and polishing; coarse slots suit dewatering, sizing and drainage.
What is the largest screen you can make?
Cylinders and tubes from 25 to 800 mm diameter in lengths up to 6,000 mm, and single flat panels up to 2,400 mm wide and 4,000 mm long. Larger decks are engineered as joined or segmented panels.
Which profile wire should I choose?
The wire is selected for load and wear first, then checked for open area, since a wider wire carries more load but gives less open area at the same slot. SIMO engineering recommends the profile and support rod for each application.
Can you make screens in Duplex, Super Duplex or Hastelloy?
Yes. We work in SS 304, SS 316L, Duplex 2205, Super Duplex 2507, Hastelloy and Monel. Hastelloy C-276 is the standard grade, and other grades are supplied on request, subject to availability in India.
Do you make custom profile wire or support rod sizes?
Yes. Custom profile and rod sizes are made subject to order quantity and frequency. Standard sizes are formed and stocked to SIMO profile codes.
Wedge wire screen quality and documentation
Is SIMO Screens ISO 9001:2015 certified?
Yes. SIMO Screens works to an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system. The certificate is held in the former company name, SIMO Screens Private Limited, and a copy is shared with quotations or on request.
Do you supply a mill test certificate with every order?
Yes. A Mill Test Certificate is supplied with every product as standard, recording the chemical composition and mechanical properties of the material. EN 10204 type 3.1 certificates are supplied where specified.
What slot tolerance do you work to?
The standard slot tolerance is plus or minus 5 percent of the nominal slot, stated on the drawing. The final inspection report records the minimum, maximum and mean slot measured on the screen.
Can our inspector or a third-party agency witness inspection?
Yes. Customer and third-party witness inspection can be arranged on request. Name the agency and the points you wish to witness in your enquiry, and notice is given before each point.
Do you offer PMI, pickling and passivation?
Yes, on request, through approved agencies. PMI covers wire, rod and fabricated parts, and pickling and passivation are carried out to ASTM A380 or ASTM A967 where your specification calls for them.
Basket strainers
What slot size should a wedge wire strainer basket have?
The slot should be smaller than the smallest particle that must not pass, with some margin. If the existing basket uses a mesh liner, share the mesh size and our engineers will propose the equivalent slot.
Can you make a replacement strainer element for our existing housing?
Yes. Send the housing drawing, the basket drawing or a sample basket. The seat, flange, gasket face and length are recorded on a drawing for your approval, and the wedge wire element is built to fit.
Do you supply a complete duplex basket strainer, or only the baskets?
Both. SIMO Screens supplies baskets and elements to fit existing housings, and complete simplex or duplex basket strainers based on the client's requirement for pressure rating, design code and flange standard.
What differential pressure can a wedge wire basket take?
It depends on the diameter, length, profile wire, rods and rings. Share the highest differential the basket can see, such as the pump shut-off head, and the design is checked for it by calculation or FEA on every order.
How do I clean a wedge wire basket?
Lift the basket out and wash it from the clean side, against the direction of flow, with water or a suitable solvent. Brush along the slots, not across them. A duplex basket strainer allows one basket to be cleaned while the other stays in service.
Candle filter elements
How does a precoat candle filter work?
A filter aid such as kieselguhr or perlite is first circulated to form a thin layer on each candle. During filtration more filter aid is dosed with the liquid, and the cake traps the fine solids. At the end of the run the cake is backflushed off and the cycle restarts.
Why choose wedge wire filters over wound or mesh candles?
Wedge wire is rigid and welded at every intersection, so the slot holds its dimension under filtration and backflush pressure. The smooth outer face carries an even precoat and releases the spent cake cleanly on backflush.
What slot does a precoat candle filter element need?
The slot is selected to hold the filter aid grade, and the precoat cake then removes the fine solids. Share the filter aid grade and the filter details, and our engineers will propose a slot.
Can you supply candles to fit my existing filter?
Yes. Send the candle length, outside diameter, top fitting and register plate details, or a sample candle, and the replacement is made to match the existing fit and slot.
Do you supply register plates and complete candle filter housings?
Yes. Candles can be supplied on their own, with a register plate, or as part of a complete filter housing made to your drawing or process data.
Are wedge wire candles used without precoat?
Yes. As backwashable elements in a candle filter or a self cleaning filter, they strain coarser solids directly from process liquids, with the slot selected for the particle size to be retained.
Centrifuge baskets
Can you make a replacement centrifuge basket for an existing machine?
Yes. SIMO Screens builds replacement baskets from the OEM drawing or from measurements of the worn basket. Fit dimensions, cone angle, slot and wire orientation are recorded on a drawing, and manufacture begins once you approve it.
Do you supply centrifuge screens for sugar centrifugals?
Yes. We supply complete wedge wire screens for continuous and batch sugar centrifugals. Share the machine make and model, the existing screen drawing or a sample, and the sugar grade, and our engineers will confirm the slot and construction.
Why do centrifuge baskets fail?
The usual causes are abrasive wear of the wire face, weld cracking under cyclic load, and slots that widen with wear until product is lost. Welding at every intersection and a profile wire selected for the abrasion address each of these causes.
Which slot orientation is used in a coal centrifuge basket?
Coal centrifuge baskets typically use axial slots, running in the direction of the basket axis. Sugar and chemical machines follow the OEM design. We match the existing orientation unless the process data supports a change, which our engineers review with you.
Is dynamic balancing available for a new centrifugal basket?
Yes, on request. Dynamic balancing is carried out through an approved agency. Coal centrifuge baskets are usually balanced by the user, so please state at enquiry stage whether balancing should be included.
Filter nozzles
Why replace plastic filter nozzles with wedge wire nozzles?
Plastic nozzles can crack under backwash pressure transients, heat and age, and their slots can deform, which lets media into the treated water. Stainless wedge wire nozzles are welded at every intersection, so they hold their slot and resist these loads.
What slot size should a filter nozzle have?
The slot should be smaller than the finest grain in the layer that sits on the nozzles, whether that is filter media or support gravel. Share the media specification and our engineers will propose a slot.
Can wedge wire nozzles be used with air scour?
Yes. For air and water backwash, nozzles are made with a long stem and an air entry hole or slot, so that an air cushion forms under the plate and air is distributed evenly across the bed.
Will your strainer nozzle fit my existing nozzle plate?
Yes. Nozzles are made to match existing plates from the plate hole size, thread and plate thickness, or from a sample nozzle. The stem and thread are then built to suit the plate.
Can the support gravel under the media be reduced?
With a slot finer than the media, many filter designs reduce or omit the support gravel. This is a process decision for the filter designer, and the nozzle slot is sized to suit the chosen bed.
Flat panels and false bottoms
Why use wedge wire instead of a milled or perforated false bottom?
Wedge wire gives a continuous slot that widens below the face, so husk and fines do not lodge in it. The result is higher open area at the same slot, steadier run-off and easier cleaning than a milled or perforated plate provides.
What slot size is used for a lauter tun false bottom?
A 0.7 mm slot is the most common choice. The usual range is 0.5 to 1 mm, selected according to the mill and the grist. Share your mill type and grist details, and our engineers will confirm the slot.
Can a false bottom be made to pass through the vessel manway?
Yes. The deck is divided into segments sized for your manway and vessel geometry, with edges and joints that sit flat on the supports. Lauter tun segments are held to a flatness of 1 to 2 mm.
Can you replace the wedge wire screen panels on an existing vibrating screen?
Yes. Send the panel drawing or a sample showing the clamping arrangement. We match the outline, the fixing method, whether side clamps, bolts or hook strips, and the slot of the original panel.
What is the largest wedge wire panel you can make?
A single panel can be up to 2,400 mm wide and 4,000 mm long. Larger decks are engineered as joined panels or segments, so a deck of the required size can be supplied for most equipment.
Header and hub laterals
When should I choose a hub and lateral instead of a header and lateral?
A hub with radial laterals suits round vessels with a convenient central nozzle. A straight header with laterals on both sides suits larger vessels and many retrofit layouts. Our engineers select the layout with you from the vessel nozzles and manway.
What slot size do wedge wire laterals need for resin retention?
The slot must be smaller than the smallest bead in your resin grade, with a margin. The resin manufacturer's data sheet gives the size range, so please send it with your enquiry and we will confirm the slot.
Can the laterals be removed through the manway?
Yes. Laterals are supplied with flanged, threaded or clamped connections, so they can be fitted and removed through the vessel manway without cutting or welding inside the vessel.
Can you replace failed plastic laterals in an existing vessel?
Yes. Send the vessel drawing and the existing nozzle details. Welded stainless laterals hold their slot width through backwash and temperature transients, which makes them a durable replacement for cracked plastic laterals.
Do you supply middle collectors and upper distributors as well as bottom collectors?
Yes. SIMO Screens supplies bottom collectors, upper distributors and middle collectors for mixed bed units, designed together so the vessel internals work as one system.
Outlet baskets and collectors
What does an outlet collector do in a reactor?
It sits over the bottom outlet nozzle, within the inert ball or support layer. The collector lets product leave the reactor while retaining catalyst and support balls, so they do not enter the outlet line, valves or downstream equipment.
How is an outlet basket fixed to the vessel?
Usually by a flange or ring at its base, bolted or clamped to the outlet nozzle, or welded where the service allows. The base is made to the nozzle detail on your vessel drawing or internals specification.
What slot size does an outlet basket need?
The slot should be smaller than the smallest particle that must stay in the vessel, with a margin for wear or attrition. Share the media data sheet and our engineers will propose a slot.
Can outlet baskets be used as pump suction strainers?
Yes. The same wedge wire basket protects pump suctions and tank outlets in water and process lines, with the slot selected for the debris to be caught.
Why use a wedge wire outlet basket instead of a perforated basket with mesh?
Mesh can tear or come loose under pressure and let media through. A welded wedge wire basket holds its slot under pressure transients up to 300 PSI, and its smooth face is easy to clean at shutdown.
Passive intake screens
What through-slot velocity should an intake screen be designed for?
Where fish protection matters, intake screens are typically designed for a through-slot velocity of 0.15 m/s (0.5 ft/s) or less. Your regulator or project specification may set a different limit, and the screen is then sized to that value.
What is the difference between a tee intake screen and a single screen?
A tee screen has two screen cylinders on either side of a central outlet, so it draws water from both directions and handles larger flows in a compact layout. A single screen has one cylinder with the outlet at one end.
How is a passive intake screen cleaned?
The low slot velocity and the ambient river or tidal current keep most debris moving past the screen. Where a project specifies airburst cleaning, SIMO can provide the air connection and internal air header, and the compressed air system is supplied by others. Periodic inspection at low water confirms the screen face is clear.
Which material should I use for a seawater intake screen?
Duplex 2205 or Super Duplex 2507 is normally selected for seawater, on the basis of pitting resistance (PREN). SS 316L suits most fresh water intakes. Send a water analysis with chlorides and we will recommend the grade.
Can water intake screens be retrofitted to an existing pump suction?
Yes. Send the suction pipe size, flange details, water depth and design flow. SIMO sizes the screen to bolt onto the existing pipe and can supply a matching saddle, skid or support frame.
Pressure screen baskets
Can you make a replacement basket for my existing pressure screen?
Yes. Replacement baskets are made to fit OEM pressure screens from the basket drawing or a sample. Share the screen make and model, and the fit dimensions, flanges, slot and flow direction are matched to the original.
What slot width should a pressure screen basket have?
It depends on the position in the line, the furnish and the contaminants to be removed. Coarse screens use wider slots, while fine and approach flow screens use narrower ones. Share the current slot and the problem to be solved.
Why does the wire profile matter in a pressure screen?
The contour of the wire face sets the turbulence at the slot entry, which affects capacity, fibre passage and how well the slots stay clear. Light, standard, heavy duty and custom profiles are available, and contoured profiles can be developed to suit the screen.
Do you make inflow and outflow baskets?
Yes. Outflow baskets have the wire face inside, with flow from inside to outside. Inflow baskets have the face outside, with flow from outside to inside.
What causes a wedge wire screen basket to fail?
Common causes are wear of the wire face from sand and grit, fatigue at welds from rotor pulsation, and slots widening until contaminants pass. Welding at every intersection, a suitable profile and material, and hard chrome plating where specified address each of these.
Resin traps
Where should a resin trap be installed?
On the outlet line of each ion exchange vessel, mixed bed or condensate polisher, and ahead of any pump or unit that resin must not reach. The layout should leave clearance above or beside the housing for removing the element.
What slot size should a resin trap strainer element have?
The slot should be smaller than the smallest bead in the resin grade, with a margin. The resin manufacturer's data sheet gives the size range, and our engineers confirm the slot and open area from it.
How do I know when a resin trap needs attention?
A rising pressure drop across the trap is the usual sign. Pressure tappings on either side of the element, or a differential pressure gauge, allow it to be monitored, and a sight glass shows trapped beads directly.
Can a resin trap be used as a general inline strainer?
Yes. The same housing and wedge wire element serve as an inline strainer after media filters, catalyst beds and on process lines, with the slot selected for the particle to be caught.
Do you make resin trap housings in carbon steel?
Yes, on request. Housings are made in stainless steel as standard, and carbon steel or lined housings are supplied where the specification calls for them, with the wedge wire element in a stainless or higher alloy grade.
Rotary drum screens
What is the difference between internally and externally fed rotary drum screens?
In an internally fed drum, feed enters inside the drum, liquid passes outward and flights carry the solids to the discharge end. In an externally fed drum, feed falls onto the outside, liquid passes inward and a doctor blade removes the solids. Flow, solids load and solids type decide the choice.
Why use wedge wire for a drum screen instead of perforated plate?
Wedge wire gives a continuous slot with a much higher open area, so a smaller drum handles the same flow. The V-shaped slot resists pegging, and the smooth wire face allows a doctor blade or spray bar to clean it effectively.
How is a drum screen kept clean?
A spray bar washes the screen from the side opposite the feed on every revolution. On externally fed drums, a doctor blade also scrapes the outer face. Spray pressure and position are set to the solids being handled.
Can you supply a replacement drum for an existing machine?
Yes. SIMO Screens builds replacement drums to match existing machines from the drum drawing or measured dimensions, with the slot, end rings, flights and drive details recorded on a drawing for your approval.
Are you rotary screen manufacturers in India for complete machines?
Yes. SIMO manufactures the wedge wire drum at its Nagpur works and supplies the complete machine, with the drive, frame, tank and spray bar sourced from approved suppliers and inspected under SIMO quality control before dispatch.
Sand control screens
What is a prepack well screen?
A prepack well screen is a pipe-based screen with a layer of graded gravel or resin-coated sand held between an inner and an outer wedge wire jacket. The pack filters fine formation sand at the screen without a gravel pack placed downhole.
When should I choose a pipe-based screen over a rod-based screen?
A pipe-based screen is the choice when the string is long or deep, or must be rotated, pulled or pushed through a deviated hole, because the base pipe takes the tensile, collapse and torsion loads. A rod-based screen gives more open area where loads are lower.
How is the slot chosen for a sand control screen?
The slot comes from a sieve analysis of the formation sand or from the gravel pack grading. The well designer sets the sizing rule and SIMO builds the slot to it, within a standard tolerance of plus or minus 5 percent of nominal.
Are you an oilfield screens supplier in India?
Yes. SIMO Screens manufactures wedge wire sand control screens at its works in Nagpur, India. Screens for oil and gas wells are built to the operator's specification and drawing, with third-party inspection accepted, and each enquiry is reviewed by our engineers before quotation.
Can you provide collapse or burst ratings for sand screens?
Ratings depend on the base pipe, the jacket design and the test requirement, so standard ratings are not published. Collapse, burst and similar tests can be carried out for an order at additional cost, and the results are supplied with the screens.
Screen cylinders
What is the difference between a wedge wire cylinder and a screen tube?
Cylinders are the larger baskets and drums built into equipment, such as reactor centre pipes, rotary drums and press screens. Screen tubes are smaller in diameter and longer, with pipe-style end connections, and are used as laterals, well points and strainer elements.
Which flow configuration does my screen cylinder need?
The flat face of the wire goes on the side where the solids are. Outside-to-inside flow uses an external profile, and inside-to-outside flow usually uses an internal profile. Send the equipment drawing and our engineers will confirm the configuration.
Can you build conical as well as cylindrical screens?
Yes. Conical, curved and segmented forms are made on the same resistance welding process as straight cylinders, with the same profile wire, support rods and slot tolerance.
What is the largest wedge wire cylinder you can make?
The standard range covers diameters from 25 to 800 mm and lengths up to 6,000 mm. Larger diameters are engineered as segmented or fabricated designs, and longer assemblies are built in flanged sections. Share the requirement and the equipment drawing for a design proposal.
Are wedge wire cylinders self-cleaning?
A wedge wire cylinder resists clogging and is easy to clean. The slot widens away from the face, so particles stay on the surface or pass through without lodging, and a spray bar, scraper or backwash clears the surface with little effort.
Screen tubes and pipes
What is a pipe-based screen?
It is a wedge wire screen built over a perforated base pipe. The pipe carries the tensile and collapse load, while the wedge wire sets the slot. Pipe-based construction suits long strings and high mechanical loads.
What end connections can you provide on a screen tube?
Plain ends for welding, threaded ends, flanges, socket ends and blind end caps are fabricated to suit the header, casing or vessel connection. Thread and flange standards are taken from your specification.
Can wedge wire tubes replace slotted PVC laterals?
Yes, in most underdrain applications. Stainless wedge wire laterals hold their slot width, take backwash and temperature transients, and are not subject to the cracking seen in plastic laterals.
What is the smallest diameter you can make?
The range starts at 25 mm diameter and extends to 800 mm, with lengths up to 6,000 mm. Share the requirement if a size falls outside this range, and our engineers will review the design.
How is the slot chosen for a lateral or strainer tube?
Choose a slot smaller than the smallest media or particle to be retained, then check open area and pressure drop at the design flow. The open area calculator gives the first check for any slot and wire combination.
Screw press screens
Why use wedge wire for a screw press screen instead of perforated plate?
Wedge wire gives more open area at the same slot, so liquid escapes faster. The slot widens outward, so fibres and fines that enter it pass through without plugging, and a fully welded basket carries the press load.
Can the screen be split for maintenance?
Yes. Screens can be built in two halves with longitudinal flanges, so that the screen can be removed and refitted without withdrawing the screw from the press.
Can the slot vary along the length of the press?
Yes. Zoned screens are made with different slots along the length, matched to the way the feed dewaters as it moves from the inlet towards the discharge end.
Do you make a replacement screw press basket for existing presses?
Yes. Share the screen drawing or the worn screen, with the press make and model, and the replacement is made to match the fit, flanges and slot of the original.
How can screen wear be reduced?
Wear comes mainly from grit in the feed and from contact with the screw flights. A heavier wire profile, the correct clearance to the screw and removal of grit upstream of the press all extend service life.
Sieve bend (DSM) screens
What particle size does a sieve bend separate at?
As a general rule, a sieve bend separates at roughly half its slot width, because the wire edge slices off a thin layer of the flow. The exact cut depends on feed rate, solids concentration and the curvature of the deck.
Why does a sieve bend screen lose performance over time?
The upstream edges of the wires wear round with abrasive feed, which weakens the slicing action so that more fines report to the oversize. SIMO decks are built to be reversed end for end, which presents fresh wire edges to the flow.
Can you supply a sieve bend with its frame and feed box?
Yes. The curved wedge wire deck is supplied in a fabricated frame, and a feed box and housing can be supplied as an option to make a complete sieve bend unit to your drawing.
What is the difference between a sieve bend and a vibrating dewatering screen?
A sieve bend is a static screen that uses only gravity and the velocity of the slurry. It removes much of the water and fines ahead of a vibrating screen, which reduces the load on that screen.
Which slot is used for juice screening?
Juice screens typically use slots of 0.45 to 0.8 mm on 15SB or 18SB profile wire, with 28SB on heavier designs. The final slot depends on the bagacillo load and downstream clarification, so share the current slot and the problems seen.
Support grids
Can a wedge wire support grid replace layers of ceramic balls?
It can reduce them in many designs. Because the slot can be made finer than the catalyst or media, fewer graded support layers may be needed. The process licensor or designer makes the final decision, and the slot is sized to suit.
How is a support grid installed in a closed vessel?
The grid is divided into segments that pass through the manway. Inside the vessel the segments are bolted or clamped together on the support ring and beams, following the marked segment drawing.
How is a catalyst support grid designed for the bed load?
The design takes the bed weight, pressure drop, upset loads and temperature, then sizes the support bars and beam spacing. FEA is used for structural validation of custom designs, and the result is shown on the drawing issued for approval.
How does the grid handle thermal expansion?
Segments are designed with clearances and fixings that let the grid move relative to the shell as temperature changes, without opening gaps through which media could pass.
Do you also supply the support beams?
Yes. Support beams and ring supports can be supplied with the grid to your vessel drawing. Where the vessel already has beams, the grid is designed to sit on the existing arrangement.
Water well screens
What slot size do I need for a tube well screen?
The slot comes from a sieve analysis of the aquifer sample or the gravel pack grading. For a naturally developed well it commonly retains about 40 to 60 percent of the formation, and for a gravel packed well about 90 percent or more of the pack.
How is a wedge wire well screen different from slotted well screen pipe?
Slotted pipe has short, widely spaced slots and little open area, so water enters fast at a few points. A wedge wire screen has one continuous slot around the full circumference, giving far more open area per metre, lower entrance velocity and easier development.
Are your water well screens made to IS 8110:2019?
Yes. SIMO water well screens are made to IS 8110:2019 across every diameter, length and end connection offered, dimensionally inspected and supplied with a Mill Test Certificate.
Which stainless steel well screen grade suits saline or brackish groundwater?
SS 304 suits most fresh groundwater. Where chlorides are higher, SS 316L or Duplex 2205 is normally selected, and Super Duplex 2507 for aggressive water. Send a water analysis and our engineers will recommend the grade.
Do you supply screens for recharge, monitoring and dewatering wells?
Yes. The same continuous slot screen is supplied for supply wells, rainwater recharge wells and pits, monitoring wells and dewatering wells, sized for the flow and the formation in each case.
Architectural panels
Can a wedge wire facade be curved?
Yes. Panels are rolled to a radius with the wires running around the curve, which keeps the wire lines continuous on curved facades, columns and ceilings. Send the radius and the extent of the curved area.
How much light and air passes through architectural wedge wire panels?
Seen straight on, the open area is set by slot and wire width, Open area (%) = Slot x 100 / (Slot + Wire width). Seen at an angle, the panel appears more solid, because the wire height closes the view.
Which stainless steel should I use outdoors?
SS 304 suits most inland sites. SS 316L is selected near the coast, in polluted urban air and close to swimming pools, where chlorides and pollutants attack the surface of lower grades.
Can panels be used as balustrade infill?
Yes. The slot can be kept narrow to stop small objects passing through. The balustrade structure and its loading must be checked by your structural engineer to the applicable building code, and the panel is designed to those loads.
How are the panels fixed?
Panels are framed and fixed to the building structure with brackets or clips, which are detailed to your drawings and supplied with the panels. The support rods can sit behind the face so that the fixings stay concealed.
Coanda intake screens
What is the Coanda effect in a Coanda screen?
It is the tendency of a moving fluid to follow a nearby surface. On a Coanda screen, water clings to the wire face, and the raised upstream edge of each tilted wire shears a thin layer of water into the slot below.
Does a Coanda intake screen need power or cleaning machinery?
No. The screen is static and the flow over the face carries debris away. Periodic inspection and occasional brushing of the face remain good practice, particularly after flood flows.
What is the difference between a Coanda screen and a sieve bend?
Both are inclined wedge wire screens. A sieve bend is fed with a slurry for dewatering or classification, while a Coanda screen sits on a weir and uses tilted wires to draw clean water from a river, canal or drain.
Can a Coanda screen be used at a fish-friendly intake?
Yes. Coanda screens are used at fish-friendly intakes because fish and debris pass over the face with the bypass flow. The slot and site layout should be agreed with the fisheries authority for the scheme.
How much head does a Coanda screen need?
It needs a vertical drop from the weir crest to the toe of the screen, which accommodates the acceleration plate and the inclined screen. Confirm the head available at site before selecting a Coanda intake.
Drainage grates
Is a wedge wire drain grate heel-safe?
Yes, when the slot is specified for it. The slot is the gap between adjacent wires, so it can be held narrow enough for heels, trolley wheels and crutches while the grate keeps a useful open area. Share the maximum slot your specification allows.
Which load class can a stainless steel drainage grate carry?
Load capacity depends on the support rod height, rod spacing and clear span. Load class requirements vary by buyer and by country, so each grate is designed to the class in your specification, such as an EN 1433 or EN 124 class, referenced as your requirement rather than a SIMO certification.
Should I choose SS 304 or SS 316L for a drain grate?
SS 304 suits most indoor drains. Choose SS 316L where salt, chlorides or strong cleaning chemicals are present, as in food plants, coastal sites and areas washed down with chlorinated cleaners.
Can the grates be lifted out for cleaning?
Yes. Grates sit loose in their frame or seating angle and lift out for cleaning. Lifting slots can be added, and locking fixings are available where grates must not be removed by the public.
Can you make trench drain grates to fit an existing channel?
Yes. Send the clear width of the channel, the depth to the seating ledge, the run lengths and the position of any corners, tees or outlets. The grates are made to drop into the existing seating, flush with the floor.
Fish screens
Why use a wedge wire fish screen rather than mesh?
Wedge wire has a smooth, flat face with no knuckles or loose ends, so it is gentle on scales and fins. The slot is even and does not stretch in service, and the screen is rigid enough to be brushed clean.
What slot size should a fish screen have?
The slot is set by the smallest life stage to be retained or excluded, and at intakes it is often fixed by the fisheries authority. Share the species and life stage, or the slot your permit requires.
What through-slot velocity should an intake fish screen have?
Fish-protection intake screens are typically designed for a through-slot velocity of 0.15 m/s (0.5 ft/s) or less. The local fisheries authority may set a different limit for the species present at the site.
Which material is right for a seawater fish farm?
SS 304 suits fresh water and SS 316L suits brackish water. Duplex 2205 or Super Duplex 2507 is selected for seawater, where chloride levels are high enough to pit the austenitic grades.
Can you make hatchery screens to fit existing raceway guides?
Yes. Send the guide slot width, the channel width and the water depth. The screen is framed to slide into the existing guides and seal against them.
Flooring panels
How much load can wedge wire flooring panels carry?
Load capacity depends on the support rod height and spacing and on the span between supports. Each panel is sized to the uniform and point loads in the enquiry, with FEA used where the loading calls for structural validation.
Is a wedge wire walkway slip-resistant?
The flat wire faces and continuous slots drain water and grit away from the walking surface. For wet or oily areas, panels can be supplied with a dimpled anti-skid finish, and the wire direction is set to suit the traffic.
Can a wedge wire floor be used for a malt kiln or drying floor?
Yes. Wedge wire gives a high open area for air flow while holding grain on a flat, smooth face that is easy to turn and clean. Kiln and germination floors typically use slots from about 0.7 mm upward.
Can trolleys and people with narrow heels cross the panels?
Yes, when the slot is set narrow and the wires run across the direction of travel. State the traffic in your enquiry so that the slot and wire direction are selected accordingly.
Can panels be made to fit an existing structure?
Yes. Send the support beam layout, the beam spacing and the sizes of any access openings. Panels and segments are made to fit the structure and to pass through those openings, with clamps or fixings supplied.
Pool and shower grates
Is a wedge wire pool grate comfortable for bare feet?
Yes. The walking surface is the flat face of the profile wire, with no punched edges or woven crossings, and the slot can be kept narrow enough for small feet and toes. A brushed or electropolished finish gives a smooth surface.
Which stainless steel should I use for a pool overflow grate?
Duplex 2205 is recommended for chlorinated and saltwater pools and for indoor pool halls, where chlorine compounds concentrate in the air. SS 316L is offered as the budget option where the specification allows it.
Can you make a curved pool overflow grate?
Yes. Wedge wire sections are rolled to the radius of the channel, so curved and freeform pools can have a continuous grate. Send the channel radius at the grate line or a setting-out drawing.
Can the grates be removed to clean the channel?
Yes. Grates are made in lengths that lift out by hand, so the overflow channel or shower drain beneath can be cleaned and inspected.
Do you make linear shower drain grates?
Yes. Wedge wire shower grates are made to the shower channel size, either loose lay on the channel ledge or in an optional frame that is tiled in flush with the floor.
Rooftop rainwater filters
How does a self-cleaning wedge wire rainwater filter work?
Water runs over an inclined wedge wire screen, clings to the wires and drops through the slots, while leaves and debris are carried across the screen to a waste outlet. The flow itself keeps the screen clear during rain.
What size rain water filter do I need for my roof?
The filter is sized on peak flow, which is the roof area multiplied by the design rainfall intensity and a runoff coefficient, and on the downpipe size. The rainwater filter calculator works out the peak flow from these figures.
Do you have a standard range of rainwater harvesting filter sizes?
Not at present. Each filter is made to the peak flow and the inlet and outlet pipe sizes of the installation, so share the roof area, the number and size of downpipes and the city or design rainfall intensity.
Can the filter feed a recharge well or borewell?
Yes. Removing leaves and grit before recharge protects the recharge pit or well from clogging. A wedge wire water well screen is used in the recharge well itself.
How often must the filter be cleaned?
The screen clears itself during rain. Check and brush it before the monsoon and after heavy leaf fall, and keep the debris outlet free so that waste can leave the housing.
Aquaculture and fisheries
What slot size do we need for a hatchery screen?
The slot must be smaller than the smallest egg, larva or fry the screen has to hold. Share the species and the smallest life stage, and a slot is proposed during engineering review.
Why is wedge wire preferred to mesh for fish farm screens?
The flat, smooth face of the V-profile wire has no knuckles or sharp edges to damage scales or fins. Its slot also resists blinding, so the approach velocity stays low and even across the screen.
What velocity should a fish protection intake screen be designed for?
Fish-protection intake screens are typically designed for a through-slot velocity of 0.15 m/s (0.5 ft/s) or less. The local fisheries authority or your consultant may set a stricter limit for the site.
Which material suits a marine hatchery or seawater intake?
Seawater service generally calls for Duplex 2205 or Super Duplex 2507. SS 316L may suit brackish water where the screens are cleaned regularly. Send the water analysis so that the grade can be confirmed.
What is a Coanda screen used for in fisheries?
A Coanda screen takes water from a channel over an inclined wedge wire surface. Fish and debris pass over the face while a thin layer of water drops through the slots, so the screen keeps itself clear.
Brewing, malting and beverages
Why replace a milled slot plate false bottom with wedge wire?
A wedge wire false bottom has a continuous slot that widens below the surface, so husk and fines do not lodge in it. It generally offers more open area than a milled plate, which supports even run-off and more effective cleaning in place.
Can the false bottom be lifted out in segments for cleaning?
Yes. The false bottom is designed as segments sized for your manway and lifting arrangement, with supports below to carry the wet grain bed. Segment flatness is held to 1 to 2 mm so that the segments seat evenly.
What slot size is used for a lauter tun false bottom?
A 0.7 mm slot is the most common choice, with slots from 0.5 to 1 mm selected according to the mill and the grist. Share your current slot and run-off behaviour, and the slot is confirmed during engineering review.
Do you make candle filter elements for kieselguhr precoat filters?
Yes. Wedge wire candle filter elements and fittings are made to the filter's tube sheet and candle length. Send the drawing of the existing candle or tube sheet with the quantity required.
Which stainless steel do brewery screens use?
SS 304 is the usual choice for brewery screens. SS 316L is selected where cleaning chemicals, chlorides in the brewing water or the brewery's own specification call for it.
Buildings and drainage
Are wedge wire grates heel-safe?
Narrow slots make wedge wire grates far kinder to heels, wheels and trolleys than wide bar or cast grates. Kitchen drainage grates commonly use 3 mm or 5 mm slots running along the length of the grate.
What load class can your drainage grates take?
The load class is specific to the buyer and the country, and is agreed per order against your specification. Share the traffic, for example foot, trolley or forklift, and any EN 1433 or EN 124 class your consultant specifies.
Which stainless steel grating material suits a pool, SS 316 or duplex?
Duplex 2205 is recommended for pool grates because of its resistance to chlorinated and salt water, and SS 316 is the budget option. Grates are supplied with a brushed or electropolished finish.
Can you make grates to fit our existing drain channels?
Yes. Grates and frames are made to your channel width, length and seating detail. Send a drawing or site measurements with the quantity of each size.
Can you make architectural screens for a facade?
Yes. Wedge wire panels form facades, sunscreens, ceilings and balustrade infill, with the light and shadow effect set by wire spacing and orientation. Curved panels are rolled with the wires running around the curve.
Chemicals, fertilisers and pharma
Which material should we choose for an acid service?
The grade depends on the acid, its concentration and temperature, and any chlorides present. SS 316L covers many process services, while reducing acids and hot chloride service often need Hastelloy C-276. Send the process data for a grade recommendation.
Can wedge wire replace the filter cloth support in a Nutsche filter dryer?
Yes. A flat wedge wire filter plate can serve as the filter medium or as a rigid support under cloth, depending on the particle size. Send the vessel drawing and the solids size range.
Do you make internals for resin columns used in product purification?
Yes. Hub and lateral assemblies, filter nozzles and resin traps are made for ion exchange and resin columns to your vessel drawing and resin grade.
What documents come with process screens for pharma and chemical plants?
The Mill Test Certificate is standard, with heat numbers traceable to the finished screen. The dimensional inspection report, quality assurance plan, PMI and third-party inspection are provided on request to suit your quality system.
Can you make centrifuge baskets for crystal slurries?
Yes. Wedge wire centrifuge baskets are made to your machine's drawing, with the slot set by the crystal size. Dynamic balancing can be arranged through an approved agency on request.
Food processing
Can a sieve bend replace a vibrating screen for wash water?
In many plants, yes. A sieve bend is static and uses gravity, so it needs no drive and little floor space. It suits steady flows with fibrous or particulate solids, and the choice is confirmed once the flow and solids are known.
How do we stop wash water screens blinding with peel and fibre?
Use a wedge wire screen with the slot set across the flow. Fibre slides over the smooth wire face, and fines pass through a slot that widens inward instead of jamming in the opening.
Do you make food grade screens for product contact?
Screens for product contact are made in SS 304 or SS 316L with welded construction and a Mill Test Certificate. Electropolishing and passivation are arranged through approved agencies on request, to the surface finish or hygiene standard your plant specifies.
Do you make stainless floor drainage grates for food plants?
Yes. Wedge wire drainage grates and trench covers are made in SS 304 or SS 316L to your channel sizes. The load class is agreed per order against your specification.
Can you supply a complete rotary drum screen for a beverage dewatering sieve?
Yes, on request. SIMO makes the wedge wire drum, and the drive, frame, tank and spray bar are sourced and assembled under SIMO quality control. A sieve bend is the simpler option where no drive is wanted.
Mining and minerals
Why do our drain and rinse panels lose magnetite?
Usually because the slot has worn wide or the panel has cracked, so medium passes with the product. Check the slot width at the wear points and replace panels before the cut drifts. Drain and rinse slots are typically 0.5 to 1 mm.
What slot size is used for coal desliming?
Desliming sieve bends commonly use a slot of about 0.5 mm, although the final slot depends on the circuit. Share the feed size and target cut, and a slot is proposed during engineering review.
Can your mining screens fit our existing screen deck?
Yes. Panels are made to your deck dimensions and fixing arrangement, including side clamps, bolted panels and hook strips, and support members with lock pins for polyurethane modular decks. Send the deck drawing or a sample panel.
Do you make centrifuge baskets for coal and mineral centrifuges?
Yes. Wedge wire centrifuge baskets are made to the machine's basket drawing or a sample, typically with axial slots for coal. Share the machine, the feed size and your current slot.
How do we get more life from a sieve bend?
Reverse it. As the upstream wire edges round off, turning the screen end to end presents fresh, sharp edges to the flow and restores the cut.
Oil, gas and petrochemicals
Can a wedge wire support grid replace the ceramic ball layers in our reactor?
It can reduce them in many designs, because the slot retains the catalyst directly. Whether ball layers can be removed depends on the licensor's design and the catalyst size, and is reviewed with your process engineer.
Can the support grid be installed through the reactor manway?
Yes. The grid is designed as segments sized to pass your manway, with bolted or clamped joints and support beams as the vessel requires. Each segment is tagged with job number and item for assembly, and laser marked where the client requires it.
Which materials can you supply for refinery screens and internals?
SS 304, SS 316L, Duplex 2205, Super Duplex 2507, Hastelloy C-276 and Monel. Other Hastelloy grades are supplied on request, subject to availability in India. Send the material specification for your unit.
How is pressure drop across a new internal checked?
CFD is used to predict pressure drop and flow distribution for custom designs, and FEA to check the structure under bed load, pressure and thermal cycling.
Do you make outlet collectors for molecular sieve driers?
Yes. Wedge wire outlet baskets and collectors, and support grids for drier and adsorber beds, are made to your vessel drawing, with the slot set below the smallest adsorbent bead and the basket sized for the outlet nozzle.
Can oil and gas screens for sand control be tested before dispatch?
Yes, on request. Collapse, burst and similar tests on sand control screens are arranged at extra cost, and the test scope is agreed with the order.
Power generation
Why is resin leakage from a condensate polisher so serious?
Resin that reaches the boiler or steam cycle breaks down at high temperature and can release sulphate and chloride, which drive corrosion. Sound laterals in the vessel and a resin trap after the polisher prevent this.
Can wedge wire laterals take condensate polisher service flows?
Yes. Polisher laterals are designed for high service flow and even distribution, and are sized for your vessel, flow and resin. 15SB profile wire is used for higher pressure at moderate flow, and CFD is used where the distribution needs checking.
Where should the resin trap go?
On the outlet of each polisher, DM vessel or mixed bed, ahead of the pumps and the feed water line. Share the line size, flow and pressure rating, and the trap is sized to suit.
Which screens for power plants suit a coastal seawater intake?
Seawater intakes generally need Duplex 2205 or Super Duplex 2507. The screen is sized for a low through-slot velocity, which reduces the debris load and protects fish, and intake screens are made up to 800 mm in diameter.
Do you make nozzles for side-stream filters?
Yes. Stainless filter nozzles are made for cooling water side-stream filters and other pressure filters, matched to the existing nozzle plate and thread. A sample nozzle is enough to match the dimensions.
Pulp and paper
Can you make a replacement basket for our existing pressure screen?
Yes. Replacement baskets for imported or OEM pressure screens are made from a sample or drawing. Send the basket drawing or dimensions, slot width, rotor type and the stock you screen.
What slot width should our pressure screen basket have?
The slot depends on the furnish, the consistency and the contaminants to be removed. Share your current slot and screening results, and a slot is proposed during engineering review.
Why do our stock preparation screen baskets crack?
Rotor pulsations load the basket in fatigue, and abrasive contaminants thin the wires. Support rod size, rod spacing and weld quality decide fatigue life, so welded construction with matched rods resists cracking.
Where does a sieve bend fit in a paper mill?
Mainly in white water fibre recovery and save-all applications. A sieve bend is static, needs no drive and recovers fibre by gravity before the water is reused.
Which material and finish do paper mill screens use?
SS 316L is common, because white water often carries chlorides, and Duplex 2205 offers more strength and corrosion resistance for harder service. Chrome plating of pressure screen baskets for wear resistance is arranged through an approved agency on request.
Rainwater harvesting and stormwater
How is a rooftop rainwater filter sized?
By the flow rate it must pass and the pipe size it connects to. The roof area and design rainfall intensity give the peak flow, so share the roof area, number of downpipes and pipe sizes, and the filter is sized to suit.
Does a wedge wire rainwater filter need cleaning?
Yes, although the sloped wedge wire face lets leaves and debris slide off with the overflow. The screen should be inspected and rinsed before the monsoon and after the first heavy showers.
Can the filtered water go straight into a recharge well?
Yes, once the rooftop filter has removed leaves and coarse silt. Clean water protects the recharge well screen and the aquifer from clogging, and a settling stage is added where the silt load is high.
What screen should we use in a recharge well?
A continuous slot wedge wire well screen across the permeable zone. The slot is selected from the soil or gravel pack grading, in the same way as for a water supply well.
Are your stormwater screens and grates stainless steel?
Yes, in SS 304 or SS 316L. Load class requirements are specific to the buyer and the country, so the class is agreed per order against your specification.
Sugar and distillery
Can you make centrifugal screens for our existing continuous centrifugals?
Yes. Replacement baskets and screens for imported or OEM centrifugals are made from a sample or the machine drawing. Share the machine details, the massecuite grade and your current slot for a design proposal.
What slot size is used for a sugar mill juice screen?
Juice screens typically use slots of 0.45 to 0.8 mm on 15SB or 18SB profile wire, with 28SB used on heavier designs. The final slot depends on the juice flow, the cane quality and the screen type.
Should we use a sieve bend or a rotary drum screen for raw juice?
Both are used in sugar factories. A sieve bend is static and needs no drive, while a rotary drum screen suits higher solids loads and tighter spaces. The choice is confirmed once the juice flow and layout are known.
When should sugar factory screens be ordered for the season?
Order them during off-season maintenance planning, so that replacement screens and spares are on site before crushing starts. A screen failure during the season stops a centrifugal or a juice line.
Which material suits distillery spent wash?
Spent wash is hot, acidic and corrosive, so SS 316L or Duplex 2205 is selected according to the analysis. Send the spent wash analysis for a grade recommendation.
Water and wastewater treatment
Can stainless wedge wire laterals replace the PVC or polypropylene laterals in our DM plant?
In most vessels, yes. Stainless laterals are designed around the vessel geometry and header connections, and replacements for PVC, PP and OEM laterals are made from a sample or drawing. Send the vessel drawing and the resin grade.
What slot size do we need to hold back ion exchange resin?
The slot must be smaller than the smallest bead in the resin's size range. Check the resin data sheet and share the grade, and the slot is confirmed during engineering review.
Why fit a resin trap if the laterals are already wedge wire?
A resin trap is the safeguard for the rest of the plant. If a lateral fails, a valve leaks or resin carries over during regeneration, the trap captures the beads and keeps them out of pumps, polishers and the boiler.
Should a pressure sand filter use nozzles or laterals?
Both are used. Nozzles fit a nozzle plate and suit smaller vessels, while header and lateral systems suit larger vessels and dished bottoms without a plate. The choice is confirmed from the vessel drawing.
Which material suits water treatment screens in brackish or high chloride water?
SS 316L covers many applications, while high chloride water often calls for Duplex 2205 or Super Duplex 2507. Send the water analysis for a grade recommendation.
Water wells and groundwater
How do I choose the slot size for a tube well screen?
The slot is selected from a sieve analysis of the aquifer samples or from the gravel pack specification. Send the sieve analysis or the bore log, and a slot is proposed for each screened zone.
Why use wedge wire instead of slotted MS or PVC pipe?
Slotted pipe has a low open area, so water enters at high velocity and carries sand. A continuous slot wedge wire screen has a much higher open area for the same diameter, and in stainless steel it resists corrosion and encrustation.
Do your well screens meet IS 8110:2019?
Yes. SIMO water well screens are made to IS 8110:2019, and every screen ships with a Mill Test Certificate. The dimensional inspection report is supplied on request.
Can you supply screens for recharge wells and piezometers?
Yes. Recharge wells and monitoring wells use the same continuous slot construction. Share the bore diameter, depth and the zone to be screened, and the slot is matched to the formation or filter pack.
Which material should we use in saline groundwater?
SS 304 suits most fresh groundwater. Saline or high chloride aquifers generally need SS 316L, and Duplex 2205 is used in aggressive coastal zones. Send the water analysis if one is available.
DM plant laterals in wedge wire
What slot size is used for a DM plant lateral?
The slot is set below the smallest resin bead, with a margin. For standard gel and macroporous resins, about 0.2 to 0.25 mm is common practice. Send your resin data sheet and we will confirm the slot for your vessel.
Which profile wire is used on an ion exchange lateral?
12SB wire on Q23 rods suits low pressure and high flow rates. 15SB wire is used for higher pressure at moderate flow. Long laterals and high backwash rates move to heavier rods.
Can wedge wire laterals replace the PVC or PP laterals in my existing vessel?
In most cases, yes. We match the root thread or flange, the length and the count of the current laterals so that they fit the existing header or hub. Send a drawing, a sample or the measurements of one lateral.
Do I still need a resin trap with wedge wire laterals?
Yes. A resin trap protects downstream equipment if a lateral is damaged, a valve fails or resin passes during regeneration. It is a low-cost safeguard for resin, pumps and downstream vessels.
Will the DM plant internals pass through my manway?
Yes. Hub and lateral segments are designed to pass the manway and to be assembled inside the vessel. Share the manway diameter and position at enquiry stage.
Pressure sand filter nozzles and carbon filter nozzles
Why replace plastic nozzles with stainless wedge wire nozzles?
Plastic nozzles crack at the stem, and their slots creep wider with age and temperature. A wedge wire nozzle has welded wires and a fixed slot, so media stays in the filter and the vessel does not need reopening for broken nozzles.
What slot size should a sand filter nozzle have?
The slot must retain the media layer that touches the nozzle. With a gravel support layer it retains only the gravel, and with fine sand or carbon directly on the plate it follows that grain size. Slots of about 0.2 to 0.5 mm are common practice.
Will your nozzles fit my existing nozzle plate?
Yes. Stem threads are made to standard thread sizes and types to suit the plate. Send a sample nozzle or its drawing, with the thread size, plate thickness and nozzle count, and we will match it.
Can the nozzles handle air scour backwash?
Yes. Long-tail nozzles with an air hole in the stem are supplied for combined air and water backwash, with the stem length made to your drawing. Send the air and water backwash rates with the enquiry.
Which material is used for activated carbon filter nozzles?
SS 304 suits most raw and municipal water. SS 316L is used where chlorides or chlorine dosing are present, and Duplex 2205 or Super Duplex 2507 for seawater pretreatment.
River intake screens in wedge wire
What through-slot velocity should a river intake screen be designed for?
Fish-protection intake screens are typically designed for a through-slot velocity of 0.15 m/s (0.5 ft/s) or less. Low velocity also reduces the debris drawn onto the screen and the frequency of cleaning.
What is the difference between a single and a tee intake screen?
A single screen is one cylinder on the end of the intake pipe. A tee screen has two cylinders either side of a central outlet, which doubles the screen area on one connection and draws water more evenly.
What slot size is used on a raw water intake screen?
The slot depends on the debris and on any fish protection requirement. Slots of about 1 to 3 mm are common on raw water intakes, with tighter slots where fish fry must be excluded.
What is the largest intake screen for river service you can build?
SIMO Screens builds intake screen cylinders up to 800 mm diameter and 6,000 mm long. Larger flows are handled with tee screens or several screens on a manifold, sized for the same through-slot velocity.
How is the intake screen cleaned?
The river current sweeps most debris off the outside of the screen. Screens can be supplied with an air burst connection and internal air header, with the compressed air system supplied by others. Divers can also brush the screen at low water.
Stainless commercial kitchen drain grates
Should a commercial kitchen drain grate be SS 304 or SS 316L?
SS 304 suits most hotel and restaurant kitchens. SS 316L is the better choice where salt, brine, chlorinated cleaners or acidic foods are common, as in food plants and seafood kitchens.
What slot size is used on a kitchen floor grate?
SIMO kitchen grates use 3 mm or 5 mm slots running along the length of the grate. These narrow slots are heel safe, let wash water and fine waste drop through, and hold back larger debris.
What load class should I specify?
Use the load class in your project specification, which depends on the buyer and the country. Kitchens with pallet trucks often reference a class under EN 1433 or EN 124. We design the profile and bars to that class, confirmed per order.
Can you make grates to fit my existing stainless kitchen drain?
Yes. Send the channel inside width, rebate width and depth, run lengths and corners. Grates are built to drop into the existing rebate, and we can also fabricate new stainless channel bodies and frames.
How do I clean a wedge wire grate?
Lift the section, hose or brush the top and the slots, and wash out the channel. The smooth wire and continuous slot do not hold food waste in the way perforated or mesh grates do.
Stainless rooftop rainwater harvesting filters for downpipes
How do I size a rooftop rainwater filter?
Size it on peak flow. Flow in litres per second = Roof area in m² x Rainfall intensity in mm/h / 3600. A 200 m² roof at 100 mm/h gives about 5.6 L/s before the run-off coefficient. Use the design rainfall intensity for your city.
Does a wedge wire rainwater filter need cleaning?
It needs less attention than a mesh filter, because the rain carries leaves and debris off the screen to the waste outlet. Check and rinse the screen before the monsoon and after heavy leaf fall.
Can one terrace rainwater filter serve several downpipes?
Yes, if the pipes join before the filter and the filter is sized for the combined roof area and flow. Otherwise fit one filter per downpipe.
Is a filter needed before a recharge well?
Yes. Silt and leaves clog the recharge well and the aquifer around it, and a choked recharge borewell is costly to redevelop. Fit a filter ahead of the recharge pit or well.
Which housing materials are available?
SIMO housings are made in SS 304 and SS 316L, with MS and SS 410 available to client requirement. A stainless housing with a welded wedge wire screen keeps its slot and shape outdoors, where plastic housings and mesh degrade in the sun.
Tube well screens in continuous slot wedge wire
How do I choose the slot size for a tube well screen?
The slot comes from a sieve analysis of the aquifer sample or of the gravel pack. In general practice, a gravel packed well uses a slot that retains about 90 percent of the pack. Send the sieve analysis and we will propose a slot.
Why does my tube well pump sand?
The usual causes are a slot that is too wide, uneven slots, or a screen or casing that has corroded or split, as with slotted mild steel and PVC pipe. A continuous slot wedge wire screen with a correctly graded gravel pack is the usual remedy.
What entrance velocity should a well screen be designed for?
A commonly used design limit for well screen entrance velocity is about 0.03 m/s (3 cm/s). A high open area meets this limit with a shorter screen length.
Do you make an IS 8110 screen for tube wells?
Yes. SIMO water well screens are made to IS 8110:2019 and supplied with a Mill Test Certificate as standard, with a dimensional inspection report on request.
Can the same borewell screen pipe be used for recharge wells?
Yes. Recharge wells and monitoring wells use the same continuous slot screens. For recharge, silt should be kept out with an effective filter ahead of the well.
Wedge wire coal centrifuge baskets
What slot is used on a coal centrifuge basket?
The slot depends on the machine and the feed size. Fine coal machines commonly use about 0.25 to 0.5 mm, and small coal machines about 0.5 to 1 mm. We match the current slot or propose a new one from your feed data.
Why does my coal centrifuge screen crack?
Constant vibration and high g fatigue light rods and weak welds, and cracks usually start at the welds and end rings. Heavier support rods, stiffening rings and welding at every wire and rod intersection resist this fatigue.
Can you build a basket for my existing screen scroll centrifuge?
Yes, from the OEM drawing or a used basket. We need the large and small diameters, height, cone angle, flange PCD and bolt hole details, and replacement of imported and OEM baskets is routine.
Is Duplex 2205 worth it for coal centrifuge baskets?
Duplex 2205 is stronger and harder than SS 304 or SS 316L, so it suits machines where wear and fatigue shorten basket life. Weigh the higher material cost against the downtime of each basket change.
Does the basket need balancing?
Yes, a rotating basket must run balanced. Coal centrifuge baskets are usually balanced by the user on site. Dynamic balancing through an approved agency can be arranged on request.
Wedge wire coal washery screens and sieve bends
What slot is used on a coal washery sieve bend?
Desliming sieve bends commonly use a slot of about 0.5 mm, and drain and rinse panels about 0.5 to 1 mm, with 1.5 mm specified on some circuits. A sieve bend separates at roughly half its slot width.
How long does a sieve bend last?
Life depends on feed rate, solids and abrasiveness. The wire edges facing the feed wear first, so turning the panel end to end brings the second edge into use and restores the cut before replacement.
Can wedge wire panels replace polyurethane panels on my screen deck?
In many cases, where the deck fixing allows. SIMO Screens supplies support members and lock pins for polyurethane modular decks. Send the deck drawing, panel size and fixing method.
Which material suits coal washery screens?
SS 304 suits most washery water. SS 316L is used where pyrite makes the water acidic, and Duplex 2205 where wear and corrosion act together.
Why is magnetite consumption high on my desliming screen circuit?
Worn or blinded drain and rinse panels are a common cause, because medium stays on the product. Check the slot, the spray water and the panel condition first.
Wedge wire condensate polisher internals
What slot is used on a condensate polisher lateral?
The slot sits below the smallest resin bead with a margin. Polishers commonly use uniform particle size resins, for which a slot of about 0.2 mm is typical. Send the resin data sheet and we will confirm the slot.
Why is a resin trap needed after a condensate polisher?
Resin that reaches the feedwater breaks down in the boiler and releases sulphate and other contaminants. The resin trap catches resin if a lateral fails or a valve sequence goes wrong, and its differential pressure tappings show when the element needs attention.
Which material is used for CPU internals?
SS 316L is the usual choice for condensate service. Duplex 2205 or Super Duplex 2507 suits plants with seawater cooled condensers, where tube leaks raise chlorides.
Can the underdrain support full resin transfer?
Yes. Deep bed polishers transfer resin to external regeneration, and the underdrain and transfer outlet are laid out to leave as small a resin heel as possible.
Can you replace the internals in an existing polisher?
Yes, including imported and OEM internals. Send the vessel and internals drawing, or a sample, and we will match the existing header, nozzle and connection positions.
Wedge wire interstage screens for CIL and CIP tanks
What slot size should a CIL interstage screen have?
The slot must sit well below the smallest carbon particle to be retained. For 6 x 12 or 6 x 16 mesh carbon, plants commonly run slots of about 0.6 to 0.8 mm. Send your carbon size, new and in service, and we will propose a slot.
What is the difference between swept and pumped interstage screens?
A swept screen is a vertical cylinder kept clear by rotating wipers. A pumped screen is a horizontal cylinder with an impeller that draws pulp through the wire and keeps carbon off the face. Both use a wedge wire cylinder as the screening surface.
Why does my interstage screen blind?
Near-size carbon fragments, grit and trash such as wood chips or plastic lodge in the slot. Wedge wire slots widen inward, so particles that pass the face tend to clear, while effective trash screening ahead of leach and steady wiping address the rest.
Which material suits a CIP interstage screen in saline water?
SS 316L suits many circuits. Where process water carries high chlorides, Duplex 2205 or Super Duplex 2507 is recommended for its resistance to pitting and wear. Send your water analysis for a recommendation.
Can you build a screen to fit my existing interstage mechanism?
Yes, from your drawing or a used screen, including imported and OEM screens. We need the diameter, length, end connections, slot, wire and the drive or wiper details that the cylinder must suit.
Wedge wire lauter tun false bottoms
What slot size is used on a lauter tun false bottom?
A 0.7 mm slot is the most common choice. Slots from 0.5 to 1 mm are used depending on the mill, the grist and the run-off target. Share your mill type and grist analysis and we will propose a slot.
Is wedge wire better than a milled slotted plate for a false bottom?
Wedge wire gives a higher open area and a slot that widens below the surface, so fines drain instead of lodging. A milled plate has parallel-sided slots and a lower open area. Our lauter tun guide compares the two in detail.
Can a replacement false bottom for lauter tun service fit my existing vessel?
Yes. Segments are built to your tun diameter, centre hub, run-off pipe positions and support layout, and sized to pass through the manway. We work from a sample, your drawing, the GAD or a site visit where required.
How flat is a wedge wire false bottom?
Segment flatness is held to 1 to 2 mm in most cases, which keeps rake clearance consistent across the tun floor. The tolerance is stated on the approved drawing.
How do I clean a wedge wire brewery false bottom?
Spray the underside through the CIP nozzles after each brew and lift a few segments at intervals to check for deposits. The continuous slot and smooth wire face make the underside easy to flush.
Wedge wire malt kiln floor and germination floors
What slot size is used on a malt kiln floor or germination floor?
Malting floor slots typically start from about 0.7 mm. The slot must hold barley and green malt without catching rootlets, and we confirm it against a sample of your grain before the drawing is issued.
Why is a wedge wire kiln floor screen better than perforated plate?
Wedge wire gives a higher open area, so air spreads evenly at lower fan pressure. Kernels rest on a smooth, flat surface instead of lodging in round holes, so the floor is quicker to clean between batches.
Can the floor carry the turner and unloading equipment?
Yes, provided the wheel or track loads are known. We select the profile, support bars and beam spacing for the bed and the equipment, and verify custom designs by FEA.
Will a wedge wire malt kiln floor warp?
Kilns cycle between ambient and curing temperatures every batch. Panels are fixed with expansion allowances so that they can move without lifting or buckling, which keeps the floor flat over repeated cycles.
Do you make screens for steeping tanks?
Yes. SIMO Screens supplies flat and conical steeping tank screens built from the same wedge wire panels. Send the tank drawing and the drain arrangement.
Wedge wire pulp screens and pressure screen baskets
What slot size is used on a pulp screen basket?
Fine screening commonly uses slots of about 0.1 to 0.4 mm, with recycled fibre and OCC fine screening often at the lower end. The slot depends on the furnish, the consistency and the contaminants to be removed.
Why does my pulp screen basket crack?
The rotor sends pressure pulses through the basket continuously, and weak welds and light rods fatigue and crack. Welding at every wire and rod intersection, close rod spacing and heavier rods resist this fatigue.
Can you make a basket for my existing stock preparation screen?
Yes, from the basket drawing or a used basket, including OEM baskets. We need the inside diameter, length, end ring details, seals, bolt pattern and the flow direction.
What causes basket plugging?
A slot that is too fine for the consistency, a worn rotor or the wrong rotor speed are the usual causes. Fibre staples across the slots and capacity drops, so rotor clearance should be checked first.
Do you offer wear-resistant baskets?
Yes. Chrome plating of pressure screen baskets is available through an approved agency. SS 316L suits most stock, and Duplex 2205 gives more strength and fatigue resistance in high-load screens.
Wedge wire reactor support grids for catalyst beds
Why use wedge wire instead of mesh layers on a support grid?
Mesh layers tear, sag and plug, and torn mesh lets catalyst migrate. A welded wedge wire screen is one rigid piece with a fixed slot and a higher open area, so pressure drop stays low and particles stay in the bed.
How is the slot chosen for a catalyst bed support?
The slot sits below the smallest particle resting on the grid, usually the inert support balls or the catalyst itself, with a margin. Send the particle sizes and we will set the slot.
Will the grid fit through my reactor manway?
Yes. The grid is divided into segments that pass the manway and bolt together inside the reactor on the support ring and beams, with a seal arrangement between the segments and the shell ring.
Which materials are available for reactor internals?
SS 304, SS 316L, Duplex 2205, Super Duplex 2507, Hastelloy C-276 and Monel. Stabilised austenitic grades such as SS 321 or SS 347 are supplied when a licensor specifies them.
Can you build to the licensor drawing?
Yes. Send the drawing and the design data sheet. We review them, return our fabrication drawing for approval and manufacture to the approved drawing.
Wedge wire sugar centrifugal screens, backing screens and baskets
What is the difference between a working screen and a backing screen?
The working screen faces the massecuite and holds the crystals. The backing screen sits behind it, supports it against the basket wall and gives the molasses a clear path to the basket perforations.
What slot is used on a continuous centrifugal screen?
Continuous centrifugals for low-grade massecuite use very fine slots, often below 0.1 mm. The slot depends on grain size and massecuite grade, so send your current screen details and we will match or refine them.
Why is there sugar in my final molasses?
A worn, torn or badly seated working screen lets crystals pass, and fine grain and conglomerates also slip through slots that are too wide. Check the screen condition first, then the crystallisation.
Can you supply a batch centrifugal screen for my existing machine?
Yes, for batch and continuous machines, including imported and OEM designs. Send the basket dimensions, the cone angle for continuous machines, the fixing details and a used screen or drawing.
Do you supply complete balanced baskets?
Yes. SIMO Screens supplies complete sugar centrifugal baskets, with dynamic balancing through an approved agency, or working and backing screens only for an existing basket.
Wedge wire sugar mill juice screens and sieve bends
What slot size is used on a sugar mill juice screen?
Raw juice screens typically use slots of 0.45 to 0.8 mm. A finer slot removes more bagacillo but needs more screen area for the same flow. Send your juice flow and current slot and we will propose one.
Should I choose a sieve bend or a rotary juice screen?
A sieve bend has no moving parts and needs only head. A rotary drum screen handles higher fibre loads in less floor space but needs a drive. Many mills use sieve bends ahead of the juice tank.
What is a 120 degree DSM screen in a sugar factory?
It is a sieve bend deck curved through a 120 degree arc, often ordered as 120 bent screens or DSM screens. SIMO Screens supplies these decks for juice screening, rolled to your radius and width.
Can a worn sieve bend panel be reused?
The wire edges facing the feed round off as they wear. Turning the panel end to end presents fresh edges and restores separation, and the panel is replaced when both edges are worn.
Do you make screens for distillery spent wash?
Yes. Sieve bend screens are supplied for spent wash screening in distilleries. Send the flow, solids content and temperature, and we will propose the slot and deck size.
Centrifuge basket design for sugar, coal and minerals
Why use wedge wire in centrifuge basket design?
Wedge wire gives a rigid, welded screen with a slot that widens behind the face. Particles that enter the slot pass through instead of lodging, so the screen stays open, and the welded structure carries the high loads of a spinning, abrasive cake.
How do I choose the slot for a coal centrifuge basket?
Set the slot below the bottom size of the product to be recovered, so that fines and water pass while product stays in the basket. Allow for wear as well, because the slot widens as the top of a V-profile wire wears.
Should slots run around the basket or along it?
Both arrangements are used, and coal centrifuge baskets typically have axial slots. Circumferential slots present each wire edge to the moving cake, while axial slots let solids slide along the wire tops. A replacement normally matches the original orientation.
Which material is used for centrifuge baskets?
SS 304 and SS 316L suit many sugar and coal applications. Duplex 2205 has roughly twice their yield strength and better chloride resistance, which helps in high-speed or corrosive service. Super Duplex 2507 and Hastelloy C-276 are used for more severe chemistry.
When should a centrifuge basket be replaced?
Replace the basket when the slot has worn beyond the width the process can accept, when product loss to the effluent rises, or when inspection shows cracked welds or damaged wires. Slot measurements at each shutdown give the wear trend.
Choosing a wedge wire screen material, from SS 304 to Hastelloy
Is SS 304 good enough for a borewell screen?
For fresh groundwater with low chloride, SS 304 is widely used. Where chlorides are higher, as in many coastal or saline aquifers, SS 316L or duplex is the usual step up. SIMO engineering recommends the grade from your water analysis.
What is PREN and why does it matter?
PREN is the pitting resistance equivalent number: %Cr + 3.3 x %Mo + 16 x %N. A higher PREN means better resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride water. It ranks stainless steels, but it does not replace service experience or testing.
When should I choose a duplex screen instead of 316L?
Duplex 2205 is considered when chlorides exceed the comfortable range for 316L, when water is warm enough to risk stress corrosion cracking, or when higher strength is needed in the same section. Its minimum proof strength is about two and a half times that of 316L.
Which material is used for seawater intake screens?
Seawater carries about 19,000 mg/L chloride. Super Duplex 2507, with a PREN of 40 or more, is a common choice for seawater screens, and nickel alloys are considered where the seawater is hot or chemically treated.
Which wedge wire screen material grades does SIMO supply?
SIMO makes wedge wire screens in SS 304, SS 316L, Duplex 2205, Super Duplex 2507, Hastelloy and Monel. Hastelloy C-276 is the standard Hastelloy grade, and other grades are supplied on request subject to availability in India. A Mill Test Certificate comes with every product.
Header lateral underdrain design for ion exchange and filter vessels
What is the difference between a header lateral and a hub lateral system?
A header lateral system has a straight header pipe across the vessel with laterals branching from both sides. A hub lateral system has a central hub with laterals radiating outward like spokes. Header systems suit larger flat-bottomed vessels, while hub systems suit smaller vessels and dished heads.
What slot size is used for ion exchange laterals?
The slot is set below the smallest whole resin bead. For standard grade resin of about 0.3 to 1.2 mm, slots of about 0.2 to 0.25 mm are common. For sand and carbon filters, the slot is set below the smallest media grain the lateral must retain.
Does a wedge wire underdrain design need a gravel support layer?
Usually not. Because the slot is finer than the smallest media particle, the media can sit directly on the laterals, often with an inert fill below the lateral level. This saves vessel height and prevents gravel mixing into the bed.
How is even flow distribution achieved with wedge wire laterals?
Wedge wire has a high open area, so the slots alone create little pressure drop. Even distribution comes from the header and lateral hydraulics, the resistance of the bed and, where needed, orifices or inner tubes that add a controlled pressure drop at each lateral.
Can wedge wire laterals replace old PVC or perforated pipe laterals?
Yes. Retrofits are common in DM plants and filters. Send the vessel drawing, manway size, connection details and media data, so that the new laterals pass through the manway and connect without hot work in lined vessels.
How to choose wedge wire slot size and open area
How do I calculate the open area of a wedge wire screen?
Use Open area (%) = Slot x 100 / (Slot + Wire width), with both values in the same unit. For a 0.25 mm slot on a 1.52 mm wire, open area is 25 / 1.77, or 14.1 percent. This is the nominal figure before support rods and blockage are deducted.
Does the support rod reduce open area?
Yes, slightly. Where the profile wire is welded to a rod, the rod sits behind the slot and shadows a short length of it. The formula gives nominal open area at the slot face, and hydraulic sizing also allows for blockage by the bed, formation or solids.
What slot size should I choose?
Choose the slot from the smallest particle you must hold back, with a margin. For media retention, the slot is smaller than the smallest grain or bead; for dewatering and sizing, it follows the required cut size. SIMO engineering recommends a slot from your particle size data.
What slot sizes can SIMO make, and to what tolerance?
SIMO makes slot openings from 25 microns (0.025 mm) to 25 mm, on profile wires from 1 mm to 5 mm wide. The standard slot tolerance is plus or minus 5 percent of nominal, and it is stated on the drawing.
What does slot selection mean?
Slot selection means choosing the slot width that holds back the particles to be retained while passing the flow at an acceptable pressure drop. It starts from particle size data, sets the slot below the smallest retained particle with a margin, then checks open area and through-slot velocity.
Why is a finer slot not always better?
A finer slot reduces open area, raises through-slot velocity and pressure drop, and can retain fines that should pass. The correct slot is the largest one that still meets the retention requirement.
How to clean wedge wire screens and maintain the slot
Can I use a wire brush on a stainless wedge wire screen?
Use nylon or stainless steel brushes only, and brush along the wires. Carbon steel brushes and steel wool leave iron particles on the surface, which rust and can start corrosion on the stainless steel.
Which chemicals are safe for cleaning stainless steel screens?
Alkaline detergents for fats, oils and organics, and nitric, citric or phosphoric acid cleaners for scale, are widely used on stainless steel. Avoid hydrochloric acid and strong chloride or hypochlorite solutions held for long periods, and rinse with clean water afterwards.
How often is screen cleaning needed?
Screen cleaning should follow the condition of the screen rather than a fixed calendar. Track differential pressure, flow or run-off time, and clean when the trend shows the screen is loading. The interval depends on the solids and the operating conditions.
How do I know a wedge wire screen needs replacing rather than cleaning?
Replace or repair the screen when the slot has worn wider than the process allows, welds have broken, wires are missing or the screen is deformed. Measure the slot with a feeler gauge at several points before deciding.
Can high-pressure water damage a wedge wire screen?
It can, if the jet is held too close or strikes across the wires of a fine profile. Keep a safe stand-off distance, jet along the slots and start from the outlet side wherever access allows.
How to write a wedge wire screen specification
What must a wedge wire screen specification include at minimum?
Product type, slot size, material grade, main dimensions, flow direction, end connections and quantity. For a sound design, the specification should also give the fluid, flow rate, temperature, pressure and the solids to be retained.
I do not know the slot size. Can you still quote?
Yes. Send the particle size data, such as a sieve analysis, the resin or media grade, or a sample of the solids. SIMO engineering will recommend the slot and state the basis for it.
Can you quote from an old screen or a photograph?
Yes. Send the old drawing if available; otherwise send measured dimensions, the slot measured with a feeler gauge, photographs of the ends and fittings, and a cut sample of wire and rod where possible. SIMO replaces imported and OEM screens from a sample or drawing.
Do I need to state the flow direction?
Yes. The slot face must meet the side that carries the solids, so state the service flow direction and any reverse flow such as backwash, with the differential pressure for each.
What documents will I receive with the screen?
A Mill Test Certificate is supplied with every SIMO product as standard. The dimensional inspection report, quality assurance plan, third-party inspection and other documents are supplied on request, and custom designs are sent as a drawing for approval before manufacture.
How wedge wire screens are made, from wire to inspection
How is the slot controlled in the wedge wire screen manufacturing process?
The slot is set by the winding pitch, which equals wire width plus slot. SIMO checks it with feeler gauges at welding set-up, during the run and at the end of each screen, to a standard tolerance of plus or minus 5 percent of nominal.
How are flat wedge wire panels made?
Flat panels are usually cut from a welded cylinder along its length and flattened. The panel is then trimmed, framed or rolled to shape. Single SIMO panels go up to 2,400 mm wide and 4,000 mm long, and larger decks are built as joined panels.
Are wedge wire screens welded or crimped?
SIMO screens are welded. Every wire and rod intersection is resistance welded on high-frequency transformer machines, so the face and the rods act as one rigid structure.
What size of screen can SIMO make?
SIMO makes cylinders and tubes from 25 mm to 800 mm diameter in lengths up to 6,000 mm, flat panels up to 2,400 by 4,000 mm, and slots from 25 microns (0.025 mm) to 25 mm.
Does SIMO pickle and passivate welded screens?
Yes, on request. Pickling, passivation to ASTM A380 or A967 and electropolishing are carried out through approved agencies when the specification calls for them. State the finish you need on the enquiry.
What documents come with a SIMO screen?
A Mill Test Certificate is supplied with every product as standard. A dimensional inspection report, quality assurance plan and other documents are supplied on request. The quality system is certified to ISO 9001:2015.
Intake screen design and sizing for through-slot velocity
What through-slot velocity should an intake screen be designed for?
Fish-protection intake screens are typically designed for a through-slot velocity of 0.15 m/s (0.5 ft/s) or less, at minimum water level with a clean screen. Intakes without a fish protection requirement may run higher, although a low velocity also reduces the debris pinned to the screen.
What is the difference between a tee screen and a single intake screen?
A tee screen has two cylindrical drums on either side of a central outlet, so it draws evenly from both ends. A single screen is one drum on the end of the suction pipe. Tee screens suit larger flows, while single screens suit smaller pipes and confined sites.
What slot size should I use for a river intake screen?
Select the slot from the smallest debris or aquatic life to be excluded and from the treatment plant's tolerance for fine solids. Where fish protection rules apply, the regulator's opening limit governs. Slots of a few millimetres are common on raw water intakes.
How is a passive intake screen cleaned?
Low slot velocity and the river current keep most debris off the screen. Where debris loads are high, an air burst system, supplied by others, releases stored compressed air inside the screen, which lifts debris off the slots so that the current carries it away.
Which material should I use for a seawater intake screen?
Seawater and brackish water need higher alloy grades than fresh water. Duplex 2205 or Super Duplex 2507 are common choices, selected on chloride level, temperature and stagnation. Send your water analysis with the enquiry for a material recommendation.
Lauter tun false bottom design with wedge wire and milled plate
What slot size is used in a lauter tun false bottom?
A 0.7 mm slot is the most common choice, within a range of about 0.5 to 1.0 mm set by the mill and the grist. The grain bed does the filtering, so the slot only has to hold the husk layer while draining freely.
Wedge wire vs milled false bottom, which should I choose?
For most brewhouses wedge wire gives higher open area, even drainage and easier cleaning, because the slot widens downward and particles pass through. Milled plates are rigid and accurate but have lower open area. The choice depends on the tun, the rakes and the cleaning system.
How do I calculate the false bottom area for a lauter tun?
Divide the grist weight per brew by the planned specific loading in kg per square metre. Published loadings are of the order of 150 to 300 kg/m². The result is the false bottom area, from which the tun diameter follows.
Can a wedge wire false bottom be retrofitted into an existing tun?
Yes, in most cases. SIMO Screens makes replacement false bottoms from a sample, a drawing, the general arrangement drawing or a site visit, with segments sized to pass the manway and sit on the existing or new supports.
How do I clean a wedge wire false bottom?
Most tuns have spray nozzles under the false bottom that flush the slots from below after grain-out. Because the slot widens downward, water from below acts on the wide side and lifts particles out. Periodic removal of segments allows a full inspection.
Mesh to micron conversion chart and how mesh relates to slot size
How many microns is 100 mesh?
A No. 100 US standard sieve to ASTM E11 has a nominal opening of 150 microns (0.150 mm). A woven cloth sold as 100 mesh can differ, because its opening depends on the wire diameter used.
How many microns is 200 mesh?
A No. 200 US standard sieve to ASTM E11 has a nominal opening of 75 microns (0.075 mm). Material passing this sieve is classed as fines (silt and clay), and a 0.075 mm slot is the equivalent starting point for wedge wire.
How do I read a mesh size chart?
Find the US sieve number in the first column and read across to its nominal opening in microns and millimetres. The sieve number is a designation rather than the opening itself, so the sieve series should always be stated.
Is mesh number the same as openings per inch?
For woven cloth, mesh count is the number of openings per linear inch. Opening size is then 25.4 mm divided by the mesh count, minus the wire diameter. US standard sieve numbers are designations tied to fixed openings, and only approximate the count per inch.
Can I replace a 60 mesh screen with wedge wire?
Yes. A No. 60 sieve opening is 250 microns, so a 0.25 mm slot is the starting point. For flaky or elongated solids a slightly smaller slot is selected, because a slot passes long particles that a square opening holds.
What is the finest slot SIMO can make?
SIMO slot openings start at 25 microns (0.025 mm), which matches the opening of a No. 500 US standard sieve, and go up to 25 mm. The standard slot tolerance is plus or minus 5 percent of nominal.
Rooftop rainwater harvesting filter design, from roof area to filter
How do I calculate the size of a rainwater harvesting filter?
Calculate the peak flow: Q (L/s) = runoff coefficient x rainfall intensity (mm/h) x roof area (m²) / 3,600, and select a filter rated for at least this flow. For example, 500 m² of RCC roof at 75 mm/h gives about 9.4 L/s.
What runoff coefficient should I use for a roof?
Hard roofs such as RCC slabs and metal sheet are typically taken at about 0.8 to 0.95. Use the lower end for rough or flat roofs with ponding, and the higher end for smooth, sloping roofs.
Why use a wedge wire screen in a rainwater filter?
Wedge wire gives a smooth screen face with a slot that widens behind it. Leaves and grit slide off rather than wedging in the slot while water passes freely, so the filter keeps working through a storm with little attention.
Do I still need a first flush diverter with a filter?
It is good practice. The first rain after a dry spell washes dust, bird droppings and fine silt off the roof. A first flush diverter sends this water to drain, and the filter then handles leaves and debris for the rest of the storm.
Is rooftop rainwater harvesting mandatory in India?
Building bye-laws in many Indian cities require rooftop rainwater harvesting for new buildings above a set plot size or built-up area. The rules differ by city, so check with the local development authority or municipal corporation.
Sieve bends (DSM screens): how they work and how they are sized
What is the DSM screen full form?
DSM stands for Dutch State Mines, the organisation that developed the sieve bend. The name remained in use, so DSM screen and sieve bend now describe the same static curved wedge wire screen.
What is the cut size of a sieve bend?
A commonly cited rule is that a sieve bend separates at about half its slot width, so a 1.0 mm slot gives a cut near 0.5 mm. Actual performance depends on feed velocity, solids content and the sharpness of the bar edges.
Why does a sieve bend lose performance over time?
The upstream edge of each bar makes the cut. Abrasive slurry rounds these edges, so less flow is sliced off and capacity falls. Reversing the screen end for end presents fresh, sharp edges.
What is the difference between a gravity and a pressure-fed sieve bend?
A gravity sieve bend takes feed over a weir or from an open feed box, so the slurry enters at low velocity. A pressure-fed unit injects feed through a nozzle at higher velocity, which suits larger arcs and finer cuts.
Where are DSM screens used?
Common uses include coal washery desliming and dewatering, mineral sizing, juice screening in sugar mills, fibre recovery in pulp and paper, and fine screening of effluent and process water. They use no power apart from the feed pump.
How often should a sieve bend be reversed?
Reverse the screen when capacity or separation falls, or at an interval established from plant records. Abrasive coal and mineral slurries need more frequent reversal than fibre or juice service.
The EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate and other screen quality documents
What is the difference between a mill test certificate and a material test certificate?
None in practice. Mill test certificate, material test certificate, mill test report and MTC all name the same document. What matters is its type under EN 10204, usually 3.1, and that its heat number matches the material supplied.
Is an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate enough for a fabricated screen?
It covers the material, not the finished screen. For the screen itself, ask for the manufacturer's dimensional inspection report and slot record, any specified test reports, and a certificate of conformity that ties them to the order.
When should I ask for a 3.2 certificate instead of 3.1?
Ask for 3.2 when the project specification, a regulator or a pressure code requires an independent party to witness the material tests. A 3.2 certificate adds cost and time, so it is specified only where it is required.
Can a PMI test tell 316 from 316L?
Only if the instrument measures carbon. Handheld XRF cannot measure carbon, so it confirms the alloy family but not the L grade. Spark optical emission spectrometry measures carbon and separates the two grades.
Which quality documents does SIMO Screens supply with a screen?
The Mill Test Certificate is supplied as standard with every order. The dimensional inspection report, slot record, QAP and data book are supplied on request, and PMI and passivation are arranged through approved agencies. Dye penetrant testing is carried out wherever specified.
Water well screen design by slot, length and entrance velocity
How do I choose the well screen slot size for a tube well?
Run a sieve analysis on formation samples from each water-bearing layer. For a naturally developed well, select a slot that retains roughly 40 to 60 percent of the formation sand. For a gravel-packed well, select a slot that retains 90 percent or more of the pack.
What entrance velocity should a well screen be designed for?
A commonly used design limit is about 0.03 m/s (3 cm/s) through the effective open area of the screen. Many designers take the effective open area as about half the calculated open area, allowing for blockage by sand or pack grains.
What does slot 40 mean on a well screen?
Slot numbers give the opening in thousandths of an inch. Slot 40 is 0.040 inch, or about 1.0 mm. Slot 20 is about 0.5 mm and slot 10 is about 0.25 mm.
Why use a wedge wire screen instead of a slotted pipe?
A wedge wire screen has a continuous slot along its length, so its open area is much higher than that of a slotted pipe with the same slot. The V-shaped slot widens inward, so grains that enter pass through rather than lodge, which keeps entrance velocity low and helps development.
Do you make well screens to IS 8110:2019?
Yes. SIMO Screens makes water well screens to IS 8110:2019 and supplies a Mill Test Certificate with every order. Send the sieve analysis, drilling log and target yield for a screen proposal.
Wedge wire flow direction and the four flow configurations
What is the difference between an external and an internal profile?
On an external profile the slot face of the wire is on the outside of the cylinder and the support rods are inside. On an internal profile the slot face is on the inside and the rods are outside. The slot face should meet the side that carries the solids.
Can a screen take outside to inside flow and also backwash?
Yes. Laterals and nozzles see service flow one way and backwash the other, while the slot face stays on the media side, so media is held in both directions. Share both flow cases and their differential pressures with the enquiry.
What does axial flow mean on a wedge wire screen?
On an axial screen the profile wires run along the length of the cylinder and the support rods form rings around it. The slots therefore run parallel to the axis instead of around the circumference.
Which configuration is used for water well screens?
Water well screens are normally radial external with outside to inside flow. Water enters from the formation or gravel pack through the slot face on the outside, and the spirally wound wire gives good resistance to external collapse pressure.
Which flow configurations does SIMO make?
SIMO makes all four: radial external outside to inside, radial external inside to outside, radial internal inside to outside, and axial external outside to inside. Flat panels are made with the slot face on either side.
Wedge wire screen design calculations: the engineering behind a screen
How do I do an open area calculation for a wedge wire screen?
Divide the slot by the slot plus the wire width, and multiply by 100. A 1 mm slot on 1.52 mm wide wire gives 1 x 100 / 2.52, or about 40 percent open area.
What screen pressure drop should I expect from a clean wedge wire screen?
At the low through-slot velocities used for intakes and wells, clean pressure drop is usually a few millimetres of water. It rises as solids build up, so the design is made for the fouled condition, with the clean figure used only as a starting point.
How is the collapse strength of well screens worked out?
The wrap wire acts as a series of rings carrying the external pressure, so collapse resistance rises with wire height and falls steeply with diameter. Ratings are based on tests or validated calculations, so ask the manufacturer to state the basis of any figure quoted.
What panel deflection is acceptable for a false bottom or support grid?
A typical design criterion is span divided by 200 under the full design load. The project specification may set a tighter limit, and bending stress must also stay within the allowable value for the material.
When is CFD or FEA needed instead of a hand calculation?
CFD is used where flow must spread evenly over many paths, as in laterals and large intakes. FEA is used where load paths are complex, as in grids with openings, baskets and high-g centrifuges. Hand calculations still set the starting design.
Wedge wire screen sizes and how to choose profile wire and rods
What wedge wire screen sizes can you make?
SIMO makes slots from 25 microns (0.025 mm) to 25 mm, diameters from 25 mm to 800 mm, lengths up to 6,000 mm and flat panels up to 2,400 by 4,000 mm. Profile wires run from 12SB to 56SB and support rods from Q23 to F253.
What do the profile wire numbers mean?
Each number is a SIMO profile code that fixes one cross-section, from 12SB (1 mm wide, 2 mm high) to 56SB (5 mm wide, 6.5 mm high). Quote the number, or the width and height, on your enquiry and SIMO will match it.
Which dimension of the profile wire sets the open area?
The width, which is the flat head at the slot side. Open area = Slot x 100 / (Slot + Wire width). Height adds strength and wear allowance but does not change the open area.
How do I choose the support rod size?
The support rod carries the load between supports or around the circumference. Select it from the differential pressure, bed load, span and collapse pressure; deeper rods carry longer spans and higher loads.
Can you match the profile of an existing imported screen?
Yes. Send a sample or a sectioned piece with its slot, wire and rod dimensions. SIMO compares it with the standard profiles and proposes the nearest match, or a custom profile where order quantity and frequency justify it.
Does a heavier wire always last longer?
In abrasive service, a wider and taller wire gives more metal to wear before the slot opens or the wire fails. It reduces open area, so the choice balances wear life against hydraulic capacity.
Wedge wire terms, from abrasion to wrap wire
Which wedge wire terms matter most on an enquiry?
Slot, open area, profile wire, support rod and flow direction. Together they define what a screen retains, how much flow it passes and how much load it carries, while material grade and end connections complete the specification.
Are wedge wire, V-wire and profile wire the same?
Yes. All three describe a screen made from V-shaped wire welded to support rods, and profile wire also refers to the V-shaped wire itself. Continuous slot screen and wire-wrapped screen are other common names.
What is the difference between slot and open area?
The slot is the gap between adjacent wires at the face, in microns or millimetres. Open area is the share of the surface that is open, in percent, calculated as Open area = Slot x 100 / (Slot + Wire width).
What does pitch mean on a wedge wire screen?
Wire pitch is the centre-to-centre distance between adjacent profile wires, equal to wire width plus slot, and it is set by the welding machine during winding. Rod pitch is the spacing between support rods.
What is a Johnson screen?
Johnson screen is a trade name of Johnson Screens (Aqseptence Group) that is often used generically for a continuous slot, wire-wrapped screen. The generic terms are wedge wire screen or continuous slot screen. SIMO Screens is not affiliated with the trade name owner.
Wedge wire vs perforated plate vs wire mesh, compared for engineers
Wedge wire vs perforated plate, which is better?
For most screening and filtration applications, wedge wire. It resists clogging, gives finer and more accurate openings, and usually has more open area at the same aperture. Perforated plate remains suitable for coarse screening with heavy impact, where blinding is not a concern.
Why does wire mesh blind more than wedge wire?
Woven mesh has wires that cross over and under each other, so near-size particles lodge in the knuckles and in the three-dimensional opening. Wedge wire has a flat face and a slot that widens behind it, so particles either pass or rest on two points.
Which has the highest open area?
At the same aperture, thin woven mesh often has the highest nominal open area, wedge wire usually comes next, and perforated plate has the least. In service, wedge wire tends to keep more of its open area because it blinds less.
Can wedge wire replace a perforated basket in my strainer?
Usually, yes. Send the basket dimensions, hole size, flow and differential pressure, and SIMO will propose a slot and profile that gives equal or finer retention in a rigid welded structure.
Is wedge wire more expensive than mesh or perforated plate?
Wedge wire usually costs more per square metre to buy. Plants select it for longer runs between cleaning, less downtime and longer service life, so the comparison should be made on the cost of ownership over the life of the screen.
What is a resin trap? Selection for ion exchange and DM plants
What is a resin trap used for?
A resin trap is an inline strainer on the outlet of an ion exchange vessel. If a lateral, nozzle or screen inside the vessel fails, it catches the escaping resin before it reaches the next vessel, the service line or a pump.
What slot size should a resin trap have?
The slot must be smaller than the smallest whole bead to be caught. Standard grade resins are typically about 0.3 to 1.2 mm, so slots of about 0.2 to 0.25 mm are common. For fine mesh or uniform particle size resins, use the lower size limit on the resin data sheet.
Where should resin traps be installed in a DM plant?
On the treated water outlet of each cation, anion and mixed bed vessel, and on condensate polisher outlets. Some plants also fit them on backwash and rinse outlets to catch resin lost during regeneration.
How do I know a resin trap needs cleaning?
Monitor the differential pressure across the trap. A rise above the clean value shows that resin or debris has been caught. Open and inspect the trap, and investigate the vessel internals if whole beads are found.
What are resin traps made from?
Screen elements are made in SS 304 or SS 316L for most treated water and condensate service. Lines that may carry acid or high chloride need a separate review, because standard stainless steels are attacked by hydrochloric acid. Housings in carbon steel or lined construction are available on request.
What is a wedge wire screen? An engineering guide
What is a wedge wire screen used for?
Wedge wire screens are used for filtration, media retention, dewatering, sizing and water intake. Common uses include water well screens, DM plant laterals, filter nozzles, lauter tun false bottoms, sugar centrifuge baskets, coal washery sieve bends and reactor support grids.
Why is it called wedge wire?
The surface wire has a wedge or V-shaped cross-section. The same construction is also called a wedge screen, V-wire, profile wire, continuous slot or wire-wrapped screen.
What slot sizes are available in a wedge wire screen?
SIMO makes slot openings from 25 microns (0.025 mm) to 25 mm. The slot is selected from the smallest particle that must be retained, with a margin, and the standard tolerance is plus or minus 5 percent of nominal.
Is wedge wire stronger than mesh or perforated plate?
For most process applications, yes. Every wire and rod intersection is welded, so the screen acts as one structure that resists thermal cycling and pressure transients up to 300 PSI. Woven mesh needs a backing, and perforated plate loses strength as open area rises.
What is wedge wire screen made from?
Wedge wire screens are made from stainless steel or higher alloys. SIMO works in SS 304, SS 316L, Duplex 2205, Super Duplex 2507, Hastelloy and Monel, selected according to chloride level, temperature, pH and process chemistry.
Do wedge wire screens need maintenance?
Yes, although less often than other media. Scale, biofilm and fats still build up in some processes. Monitor differential pressure or flow, and clean from the outlet side by backwash, jetting or brushing along the wires.
Intake screen calculator for through-slot velocity
What velocity should I enter in the intake screen velocity calculator?
Fish-protection intakes are typically designed for a through-slot velocity of 0.15 m/s (0.5 ft/s) or less, which is the default. Enter the limit in your permit or design basis if the regulator has set a different figure.
When is a tee screen better than a single screen?
A tee screen splits the flow across two drums on a central outlet, which halves the length of each drum and draws water more evenly. It suits shallow rivers and lakes where the depth over the screen is limited.
What slot size suits a river intake screen?
Slots of a few millimetres are typical for debris exclusion and fish protection, with finer slots where the downstream plant requires them. SIMO engineering confirms the slot from the water quality and the protection required.
How are passive intake screens kept clean?
A low through-slot velocity limits the pinning of debris against the screen, and the ambient current carries much of it away. Where an airburst cleaning system is specified, it is supplied by others and connected to the screen.
Lauter tun calculator for false bottom sizing
What bed loading sets the lauter tun false bottom size?
Many brewhouses run about 150 to 220 kg of grist per square metre of false bottom, according to the mill type and the run-off time required. The calculator uses 175 kg per square metre as the default.
Which slot is used for a lauter tun false bottom?
A 0.7 mm slot is the most common choice, with slots from 0.5 to 1 mm selected according to the mill and the grist. Enter the slot in the calculator to see its effect on the open area.
Why use wedge wire for a false bottom?
Continuous V-slots give a higher open area than milled or perforated plate and resist blinding, which supports run-off time and wort clarity. Segments are also held flat to within 1 to 2 mm across the tun.
How many segments does a false bottom need?
Enough for each segment to pass through the manway clear opening. The calculator gives an estimate from the tun diameter and the manway size, and SIMO engineering confirms the segment split on the drawing.
Can SIMO replace an existing false bottom?
Yes. Replacement false bottoms are made from a sample segment, a drawing, the general arrangement drawing of the tun or a site visit. Share the tun diameter and the manway size with your enquiry.
Mesh to micron converter
How many microns is 100 mesh?
On the ASTM E11 US standard sieve series, 100 mesh has a nominal opening of 150 microns, which is 0.150 mm or about 0.0059 inch.
Is mesh the same in every standard?
No. The US (ASTM E11), Tyler and British (BS 410) series differ slightly for the same mesh number, so confirm the standard whenever a specification gives a size in mesh.
Do wedge wire screens have a mesh number?
No. A wedge wire screen is specified by its slot opening in microns or millimetres, which is a single continuous gap between two profile wires rather than a woven aperture.
What slot replaces a 60 mesh screen?
60 mesh is a 250 micron opening, so a 0.25 mm wedge wire slot retains similar particles while giving a V-shaped slot that widens behind the face and resists clogging.
Does the mesh to micron calculator also convert micron to mesh?
Yes. Enter a micron value and the converter returns the nearest standard mesh numbers on the ASTM E11 series, with the matching millimetre and inch values.
Open area calculator for wedge wire, plate and mesh
What formula does the wedge wire open area calculator use?
Open area (%) = Slot x 100 / (Slot + Wire width). For example, a 0.5 mm slot on 18SB profile wire, which is 1.8 mm wide, gives an open area of 21.7 percent.
How is perforated plate open area calculated?
For round holes on a 60 degree staggered pattern, open area (%) = 90.69 x (hole diameter / pitch) squared. For round holes on a square pattern, the factor is 78.54 instead of 90.69.
Why does open area matter?
Open area sets how much flow passes through each square metre of screen and the velocity through the slots, which together govern pressure drop, wear and the risk of particles being forced into the openings.
Does a higher open area always mean a better screen?
No. A thinner wire raises the open area but lowers strength, so the profile wire and support rod are selected together for the load, the slot and the open area required.
Rooftop rainwater filter calculator
How do I work out the rainwater harvesting filter size?
Size the filter for the peak flow from the roof it serves: runoff coefficient x rainfall intensity (mm/h) x roof area (m2) / 3,600 gives the flow in litres per second. The inlet is then matched to the downpipe size.
What runoff coefficient should I use?
Hard roofs such as RCC and metal shed most of the rain, so 0.8 to 0.9 is typical and the calculator uses 0.85. Tiled roofs and paved areas are lower, at about 0.75 and 0.70.
Why use a wedge wire filter for rainwater?
The V-slot sheds leaves and grit instead of trapping them, so the screen cleans itself with the flow and needs far less attention than a mesh filter.
Can one filter serve several downpipes?
Yes, if it is sized for their combined peak flow and the pipes are brought to one inlet. On large roofs, a separate filter on each downpipe is usually simpler to install.
Screen material selector for wedge wire
What is PREN?
PREN is the Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number: PREN = %Cr + 3.3 x %Mo + 16 x %N. A higher PREN means better resistance to chloride pitting, which makes it a quick comparison between stainless grades.
Choosing 304 vs 316L vs duplex, when is SS 304 enough?
SS 304 is usually adequate for fresh water and other low-chloride service at near-neutral pH and moderate temperature. SS 316L is selected once chlorides rise or the medium is mildly acidic or food contact.
When should I move to Duplex 2205 or Super Duplex 2507?
Duplex 2205 is the usual choice for brackish water and for chloride levels above about 1,000 mg/L, or lower levels at high temperature. Super Duplex 2507 is selected for seawater and for very high chloride streams.
Where are Hastelloy and Monel used for screens?
Hastelloy C-276, the standard grade, is used for strong acids and hot chloride service. Monel is used for seawater at velocity and for hydrofluoric acid service. Other Hastelloy grades are available on request, subject to availability in India.
Water well screen calculator
What entrance velocity should a well screen have?
A widely used design limit is about 0.03 m/s (3 cm/s) through the effective open area. Keeping below it limits sand movement, encrustation and head loss across the screen and the filter pack.
Why does the well screen length calculator assume 50 percent open area?
Filter pack grains block part of each slot, so designers commonly take about half the calculated open area as effective. The figure is editable, so a client's own design factor can be used instead.
How do I choose the well screen slot size?
With an artificial filter pack, the slot is usually set to retain about 90 percent of the pack, which is close to its D10 size. A sieve analysis of the formation or the pack is the starting point.
Are SIMO water well screens made to IS 8110?
Yes. SIMO water well screens are made to IS 8110:2019, with weld rings, threaded ends and bottom plugs supplied as standard end connections. Share the yield, diameter and slot with your enquiry.
